This position coordinates, supervises and manages all activities in the three chemistry department service centers which serve 15 undergraduate lab courses and research projects. Responsible for supervising student assistants, maintaining a safe work environment, maintaining the chemistry department budget, locating and procuring chemical and laboratory supplies, working with vendors to identify best sources of chemical and laboratory supplies. Responsible for maintaining the chemistry department chemical inventory and safety training records and coordinating preparation for chemistry department safety inspections. This position requires someone who can work as a member of a team and be diplomatic in high pressure situations.
