Position Description

Position Summary

The Athletics Department at San Diego State University is seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Ticket Office Sales Representative to support ticket operations for SDSU’s 18 Division I sport programs. Working under the direction of the Associate Athletic Director of Ticket Operations, this role plays a key part in delivering exceptional service to season ticket holders, students, faculty/staff, and the general public.

In this fast-paced environment, you will manage in-person and phone ticket sales, process payments, and provide frontline customer support while helping ensure smooth and efficient game-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly, efficient customer service during regular business hours and at campus athletics events.
  • Assist walk-up customers, answer ticket inquiries by phone, and resolve service issues.
  • Process renewals, payments, and mail orders for Aztec tickets.
  • Complete general office tasks and projects as assigned.
  • Serve as a ticket seller or game-day assistant at Snapdragon Stadium and other SDSU venues.
  • Staff will-call and customer service windows.
  • Act as a lead for softball and baseball events as needed.
  • File, prepare mailings, print and package tickets, manage tickets and pass inventory.
  • Support administrative needs within the Ticket Office.

Position Information

  • This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position with an anticipated end date of December 31, 2026, with the possibility of reappointment. 
  • This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
  • Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. (Ability to travel to away contests)
  • The individual hired into this role will work at SDSU Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego.

Department Summary

The Department of Athletics, utilizing the services of over 150 employees, is responsible for the intercollegiate athletics program at San Diego State University.  Currently, there are 18 sport programs, approximately 550 student-athletes, and 17 offices in the department.  The offices include the following:  The Aztec Club, Administration, Athletic Medicine, Business Office, Compliance, Corporate Sales, Development, Equipment, Event Management/Facilities and Operations, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing, Media Relations, Strength and Conditioning, Student-Athlete Academic Support Services, Ticket Office, and Video.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Relevant education and/or experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Key Qualifications

  • Must have ticket office/ticket sales and cash handling experience.
  • Strong customer service skills. 
  • Effective interpersonal and verbal/writing skills.
  • Experience working in an athletics ticket office.
  • Experience in customer service.
  • Cash handling experience in a ticket office; proficiency with Microsoft Word & Excel.
  • Some experience with Ticketmaster. 
  • Ability to travel to away games for various sports.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation:
Step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience, in alignment with the department’s budget and equity guidelines.

  • Initial step placement is not expected to exceed Step 1 ($4,198).
  • CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,198 - $6,115 per month (Step 1 – Step 20).
  • Future increases, including step advancements, are subject to contract negotiations.
