The College and Program Development department within the Vice President, University Advancement Division, generates financial support for Cal State Fullerton, benefiting each of the eight colleges, Student Affairs, Titan Athletics, the Arboretum and Botanical Garden at Cal State Fullerton, and the Pollak Library. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as t Fundraising and Events Specialist, Athletics (Advancement Professional II). Cal State Fullerton's Titan Athletics program is a dynamic and integral part of the university, participating in the NCAA Division I Big West Conference with nineteen teams. The Titans have achieved thirteen national championships across eight different sports, showcasing their competitive spirit and excellence in athletics. The program is designed to be a vital component of the educational experience at CSUF, emphasizing the importance of academic achievement alongside athletic success. The athletics department is committed to providing quality experience for all student-athletes, focusing on fair play, sportsmanship, and teamwork. It also aims to enhance the image of CSUF locally and nationally, fostering pride and involvement among students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members. Duties and Responsibilities
|
Under the general supervision of the Director of Development of Athletics, the Fundraising and Event Specialist plans, coordinates, and executes major fundraising events for Athletics. Following Titan Athletics and campus policies, the Fundraising and Events Specialist independently develops marketing and communications, identifies vendors, executes logistics, oversees guest tracking, manages contracts and payments, develops processes to receive and track gifts, and completes donor stewardship. Coordinates the prestigious annual Hall of Fame Ceremonies and other major fundraising events, both in general and sports specific. Coordinates booster club activities, promotions, and publicity. Oversees communication and newsletters for donors. Assists with producing and implementing overall fundraising plans, policies, and procedures. Assists with the production of invitations, press releases, save the dates, and other event-related materials. Assists with the writing and editing of printing, electronic communication materials, and other communication vehicles to promote and distribute events. Maintains and establishes relationships with relevant internal and external constituents including management, head coaches, and donors. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications
|
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience. Additional experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Under general supervision, administers advancement campaigns, programs, and policies. Work is reviewed for soundness to ensure the successful execution of events, donor and stakeholder engagement, and communications. Decision-making requires interpretation and knowledge of advancement best practices and procedures; event program or annual campaign/giving guidelines; as well as organization policies and protocols. Works independently on most day-to-day assignments with general supervision on new assignments or projects to ensure accuracy and alignment with objectives. Handles multiple work priorities and is accountable for own work results.
Working knowledge and understanding of advancement principles and current best practices. Demonstrates competence in independently applying judgment to resolve non-standard problems and issues. Includes interpretation of applicable regulations, standards, and guidelines. Strong analytical and organizational skills to plan, organize, prioritize, and ensure the successful completion of fundraising campaigns or events within time and budget constraints. Strong communications and interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate multiple stakeholder relationships and guide the development of appropriate fundraising and promotional materials. Ability to effectively lead and train others. Knowledge of event planning, fundraising, budgeting, and accounting principles and processes. Proficiency in using advancement or donor management software and financial systems.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Preferred Qualifications
|
Experience with event planning, working in an Athletics office, coordinating with vendors, and managing budgets.

License/Certifications
|
A valid California driver’s license.
