Under general supervision of the SSP IV and Associate Dean, the SSP II will perform moderately complex professional student services related to academic advising, student success, and retention for students, faculty, and staff in the Colleges of BSS. This position requires the application of both professional knowledge and judgment, as well as experience, to apply the principles, techniques and skills characteristic of student advising and retention services. Such services and activities include, but are not limited to, providing information and guidance to students; assisting students to think through problems and select suitable solutions and courses of action; evaluating student needs and authorizing services; coordinating and administering programs, events, and projects; facilitating student involvement in campus life; advocating the needs of individual students and groups of students to university administrators, faculty and staff; and providing support and assistance to students facing a variety of personal as well as institutional problems, questions and challenges. Responsibilities include serving as a resource and providing guidelines for advisors for majors, minors and certification within assigned departments, outreach to students within specific populations in the respective departments. Advisors help students develop intentional decision making skills and strategies for academic success and work on problems from the investigation and analysis stage through the solution and implementation stage.
The position will work collaboratively, across divisions, to support institutional and college-level academic equity efforts by monitoring academic progress for historically-undeserved student groups, while utilizing evidence-based best practices to strengthen retention and success. |

Under the general direction of the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Interim Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management serves as a member of the Vice President for Student Affairs leadership team and provides administration and leadership to Enrollment Management Services departments: Enrollment Management Central Office, Financial Aid and Scholarship Office, Office of Admissions, and Office of the Registrar. The Interim AVP is a member of the Enrollment Management Advisory Committee, University Budget Committee, and the Graduation Initiative 2025 Advisory Team focused on student success, retention, and graduation, and is the enrollment planning and reporting officer to the CSU Chancellor's Office; consults with and advises executive management and administration on divisional strategy and accomplishing divisional objectives, and critical and sensitive issues; coordinates development of plans and assessment procedures including program evaluation and review, outcomes measures for the division, and preparation of annual reports; and performs other duties as assigned. |
