The School of Social Work is searching for a Director of Field Education (12 month) who will be a tenure track Assistant Professor to start January 2, 2018. California State University, Chico is seeking faculty who are competent in their field, collaborative with colleagues and staff, and committed to student success. Position is contingent on funding.

Minimum Education and Experience

The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is a Masters Of Social Work, must have at least five years of post-degree experience. Must demonstrate the experience in classroom teaching, supervision, program management, facilitating professional training, and willingness to work in a team environment. Must be interested in working with the agencies throughout our 18 county region. The successful candidate should also demonstrate a commitment to and/or experience promoting and fostering a learning environment that is supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Additional Requirements and Responsibilities for this position

Administration of the Undergraduate and Masters practicum programs. This includes placement of BSW and MSW students, preparation of field education handbooks and other accreditation materials, continuous evaluation and improvement of the field education program; recruitment of qualified practicum agencies; planning and conducting orientations and ongoing training of field agency instructors; resolution of practicum-related problems; coordination of the Field Education Community Advisory Board. This faculty member will also teach (at least) one course each year, do advising, conduct scholarship related to field education, participate in faculty and other School and University committees, hire/train and work with field liaisons, and engage in related duties as assigned.

Recruitment Preferences

The education preferred is Ed.D. or Ph.D. in Social Work or a related field, Social Work licensure. A candidate who has direct knowledge of the region and of distance education is preferred.

CSU, Chico offers a number of benefits to its employees (e.g., sick leave, vacation, health insurance). Eligibility for standard CSU benefits is based on an appointment of half-time or more for a period exceeding six months. Employees appointed less than half-time or less than six months are not eligible for standard CSU benefits but do receive prorated sick leave and vacation.

Eligibility for Affordable Care Act (ACA) benefits is based on an appointment of at least three-quarter time, hired to work a minimum of 130 hours per month over the course of the appointment or works an average of 130 hours or more per month during the measurement period. The ACA guidelines provide for health coverage or FlexCash only. ACA does not provide dental or vision plan coverage.
