Job Summary 

Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President, Enrollment Services, this position is responsible for planning, developing, and delivering key marketing and communications from Enrollment Services to promote strategic objectives, initiatives, and programs. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for the maintenance of the ES website, ensuring that all information is up-to-date and timely.  This position provides guidance in the implementation of ES Chatbot, EAB Beach Central module and the development and implementation of appropriate social media avenues.  As an integral member of the Office of the AVP, this position is responsible for the development and organization of department wide special events including all staff retreats, recognition, teambuilding, etc. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning, developing, and delivering key Enrollment Services communications to the applicants, students, campus community, and the general public in support of major initiatives. Provides support to the AVP in the development of presentations, communications, and ongoing branding for Enrollment Services.
  • Website and Communication Plan Administration- Maintains, reviews, and coordinates Enrollment Services website and communication plans. Performs campaign audits, including edits to ensure consistency and effectiveness throughout Enrollment Services. Create a basic Social Media plan including reusable templates.
  • Provides thought leadership throughout Enrollment Services and coordinates with other divisions to facilitate and identify best practices for marketing, collateral, communications, web content, and presentations. Assist with implementation of new university wide CRM tool.
  • Provides supervision including workload distribution to ES Communication student assistants.
  • Provides direction in the development and coordination of Enrollment Services events including retreats, recognition events, teambuilding, and celebrations. Supervise day to day activities and assignments.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of word processing, desktop publishing, and web design software packages. Significant experience in writing, editing, and proofreading copy to produce standard electronically based communications for targeted internal and external audiences. Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining relationships with relevant internal and external constituents in order to facilitate the delivery of relevant, timely, and positive information to the public about the university and its programs.

Significant experience in the ongoing management of communication materials on a large organizational website. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with designers, and others on the theme, design and content of electronic, and web-based publications to maximize impact. Treats all customers (students, faculty and staff colleagues) with dignity and respect, empathy, fairness and professionalism, consistent with the university mission, values and strategic vision.

Ensures operational integrity and continuity by maintaining detailed descriptions of responsibilities, ranging from daily tasks to strategic activities and outcomes, and makes them available to supervisor. Ensures quality, usability, and integrity of system data by working within approved processes and testing procedures. Demonstrated knowledge of current higher education organizations and current issues. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong, positive, and productive relationships within the university and with the broader community. Demonstrated ability to identify and appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.  Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.  Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience

Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in communications or a related field and three years of experience in communications or public relations required.

Physical Summary

Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $5,000 - $6,250 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4,146 - $7,500 per month.

Time Base

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
