Salary
The anticipated salary range is between $268,000 and $291,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Position Information
The SFBRN is seeking an Interim Head of Network Information Technology to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the Information Technology unit serving CSUEB, SFSU, and SSU. Reporting to the Network Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, this role is responsible for guiding both the day-to-day operations and long-term vision for IT services across the Network.
The Interim Head of Network Information Technology will oversee six critical domains: Applications, IT Infrastructure, User Support, Information Security, Planning and Administration, and Data, Reporting, and Analytics. This leader will drive collaborative IT governance, champion digital transformation, and ensure reliable, secure, and innovative solutions that empower faculty, staff, researchers, and students.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership (40%): Guide IT operations across all service areas, manage budgets and resources, and ensure compliance, efficiency, and innovation in service delivery.
- Leadership & Supervision (30%): Lead and mentor a high-performing IT team working across three campuses, fostering collaboration, inclusivity, and a customer service mindset while aligning technology solutions with institutional priorities.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement (5%): Champion automation, AI adoption, and emerging technologies to streamline operations, enhance service delivery, and position SFBRN as a higher education technology leader.
- Project Planning & Management (15%): Oversee execution of complex IT projects, RFP processes, and systemwide initiatives ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Communications & Training (5%): Ensure clear communication across campuses, champion IT documentation and knowledge-sharing, and foster workforce development.
- Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (5%): Advance organizational values by promoting equity, integrity, service, and accountability in all aspects of leadership.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, business administration, or related field (required).
- Master’s degree preferred.
- In lieu of a degree, 10 years of experience in IT systems oversight, including staff supervision.
Experience
- 10 years of progressively responsible IT leadership experience, including enterprise-level oversight (required).
- 8 years of management and supervisory experience (required).
- 15 years of progressively responsible IT experience (preferred).
- Experience in higher education, multi-campus systems, or complex public sector organizations (preferred).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proven success leading IT teams in large organizations.
- Expertise in IT infrastructure, applications, data analytics, information security, and user support.
- Demonstrated ability to drive change management, digital transformation, and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong knowledge of compliance, regulations, and IT governance.
- Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities with strategic focus.
