Compensation and Benefits


Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,540 - $5,733 per month

Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,540 - $7,893 per month

  • This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Associate Director, the Freshman Admissions Coordinator is responsible for providing admission and advising services that assist students in their transition to the university. The Freshman Unit admits incoming students, advises students regarding their admissions requirements and their credits applicable to baccalaureate programs, identifies requirements for their particular major, and advises students regarding appropriate pathways for meeting major and General Education degree requirements.  The Coordinator will independently plan to complete work by the assigned departmental due date, have both interviewing and counseling techniques to speak and meet with students who have individual questions, and use sound judgment to recommend solutions to problems and changes in program procedures. The Coordinator will also ensure the team evaluates admissions applications in accordance with CSU admission policies, Title 5, and California Code of Regulations.

  • Interpret and apply program rules and regulations.
  • Use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements
  • Reason logically, analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action.
  • Collect, compile, analyze and evaluate data and make verbal or written presentations to communicate the data.
  • Advise students individually and in groups on routine and complex matters where required.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, CSU administrators, and student organizations, and promote a positive, service oriented collegial work environment with a variety of individuals.

Education and Experience

  •  Equivalent to three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience and graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution.
  • A master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience.

This will require the filing of a Statement of Economic Interest on an annual basis and the completion of training within six (6) months of assuming office and every two (2) years thereafter.
