Job/Department Summary:
Under general administrative and medical direction of the Lead Physician and in accordance with established standardized procedures and protocols, the Nurse Practitioner provides a wide range of primary health care services to eligible students. These include assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic illnesses; preventive and health maintenance services; and health education and counseling. The Nurse Practitioner is a licensed health care practitioner whose scope of practice is established in writing by the supervising physician, based on demonstrated competence, education, training, and experience.
Required Education and Experience:
Master's degree or higher from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program required.
AND
Incumbents must be clinically competent in a medical specialty such as: family practice, internal medicine, women's health, or primary care, and must possess sufficient experience to independently perform the duties of a Nurse Practitioner within that specialty.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS: Possess (or ability to obtain by date of hire) and maintain the following:
Valid and current California license as a Registered Nurse and a BRN certificate evidencing that the individual is qualified to use the title of Nurse Practitioner, as required by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
Valid and current BRN Furnishing certificate.
Valid and current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) number and certificate.
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Preferences:
Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:
- Experience in a Student or University Health Setting:
Preference may be given to candidates with prior experience in a university or student health center or with college-aged populations.
- Women’s Health, Mental Health, or Specialty Experience:
Preference may be given to candidates with experience in areas commonly encountered in student health settings, such as women’s health, sexual and reproductive health, mental health, or health promotion services.
- Commitment to Professional Development:
Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate engagement in continuing education, clinical quality improvement initiatives, or efforts to maintain current best practices in advanced nursing care.

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, Summer: Mon-Thurs 7:00am-5:30pm
CSU Classification Salary Range: $120,564 (Step 1) - $175,632 (Step 20) per year.

o Current BRN Furnishing Certificate.
o DEA number and certificate (if delegated to furnish controlled substances).
o Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
