Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Director of Clinical Operations the Patient Services Representative coordinates and facilitates a variety of functions in support of Student Health, Counseling & Wellness (SHCWS) Services mission, values, and goals and missions. Incumbent functions with a moderate degree of independence and exercises considerable discretion, judgment and confidentiality as required in a clinical office environment.

Provides first point-of-contact for clients/patients, customers, and visitors. Gathers pertinent patient data to facilitate service to the client/patient and receipt of payments for service provided. Provides efficient and accurate customer service to clients/patients with their registration and other needs.

FLSA: Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime compensation)

Anticipated Hiring Range: $3,565 per month (Step 1) - $4,433 per month (Step 12)

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,565 per month (Step 1) - $5,092 per month (Step 19)

Salary step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience.

The Student Health, Counseling and Wellness center provides an integrated approach to care combining both physical, mental and various needs of our students. This approach acknowledges the intricate connection between mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual wellness, recognizing that a person's mental health cannot be isolated from their overall health. Our multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals fosters an inclusive culture that addresses systemic disparities and creates an environment where individuals from diverse backgrounds feel respected, valued, and are provided with equitable access to quality care. Student Health, Counseling, and Wellness Services (SHCWS) staff are committed to continuously providing exceptional service for our campus community. Minimum Qualifications 

Entry to this classification requires fundamental written and oral communication skills, including a sound foundation in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; an ability to understand standard office procedures; an ability to operate standard office equipment; an ability to learn office technology systems; an ability to perform basic mathematical calculations; and typing and keyboard skills.

These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through completion of a high school program or its equivalent and some experience in an office environment.

Required Qualifications 

1. Experience providing reception and clerical duties in an office environment.
2. Exceptional customer service skills.
3. Effective interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to use independent judgment and discretion when responding to routine and non-routine inquiries and assessing urgency of situations.
5. Effective written and verbal communication skills with ability to convey information clearly and accurately.
6. Fluency in using standard office software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
7. Effective organizational skills with the ability to independently prioritize work assignments.
8. Ability to perform standard clerical procedures and practices.
9. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with multi-disciplinary staff.
10. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
11. Ability to obtain BLS CPR and complete FamilyPACT training upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications 

  1. Two years’ experience providing direct customer service.
  2. Experience working in a medical office and/or counseling center.
  3. Experience working with Electronic Health Records.
  4. Familiar with HIPAA
