The Administrative Support Coordinator II (ASC) operates independently under the general supervision of the department chair, overseeing all clerical and administrative support functions for the Departments of Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Science Education. The ASC provides leadership to clerical staff, manages human resource activities and departmental events, handles course scheduling and other academic tasks, monitors and reconciles budgets, and oversees purchasing for equipment, supplies, travel, professional development, and other expenses. Additionally, the ASC is responsible for training faculty and staff on departmental procedures.
In this role, the ASC provides both direct and indirect administrative support to the chair, coordinates projects, and conducts research and analysis. The ASC delegates tasks, monitors the work of others, interprets and applies policies and procedures independently, and resolves day-to-day operational issues with sound judgment and discretion. Furthermore, the ASC facilitates the Chemistry Summer Research Institute (CSRI) program and assists faculty advisors with the planning and scheduling of student events.

Working independently, under direction of the Manager of Budget & Finance, the Capital Projects and Accounts Receivable Technician provides journey-level record-keeping support including monitoring, compiling, reviewing, reconciling and reporting financial transactions for Facilities Management and Services (FMS). Incumbent will perform technical record-keeping tasks related to campus minor and major capital projects and work orders, consistent with standard practice and established guidelines. Incumbent will verify support documents, record costs, answer questions, maintain billing information in the Common Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and review transactions in the Common Financial System (CFS) for accuracy. Working with the department Budget & Finance Manager, Director of Business Operations, and various project managers, incumbent will maintain accuracy of project budgets, process purchase requisitions, verify chartfield strings, process invoices and change orders. Incumbent also assists with maintenance and operation of integrated financial systems and/or other types of records management systems, such as the Common Maintenance Management System (Web TMA) and PeopleSoft, used by the department, and/or Chico State to monitor information. Additionally, incumbent will perform general support duties for the department's Customer Service Center such as answering phones and serving as backup to customer support, as needed.

Working independently, under general supervision, Building Service Engineers perform maintenance and repair work on a wide range of heating, ventilating, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical, refrigeration, air conditioning, water systems and auxiliary
equipment. Incumbent will operate, test, adjust, and calibrate, boiler, air conditioning machinery, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and/or microprocessor control instruments. Building Service Engineers monitor building systems data, adjust systems accordingly and respond to service requests to adjust airflow, temperature and humidity balances for individual rooms, building areas or buildings. The duties include testing and chemically treating boiler, condenser, and cooling tower water and water from other systems, as well as maintenance, inspection, diagnoses and emergency repairs for systems. Building Service Engineers may need to solder, braze or weld pipe in underground vaults or in mechanical rooms. Incumbent will regularly use features of building automation systems to diagnose and troubleshoot problems in the HVAC systems and adjust to optimize energy conservation, and may maintain logs of maintenance and repairs, using manual and computerized record-keeping systems, and provide instruction and/or work with semi-skilled or unskilled assistants. Duties also include swimming pool maintenance, and work on bearings, shafts, seals, rings and electrical wiring and installation of central system parts, gages, valves and pipes. This position requires the application of journey-level skills in one or more of the applicable trades. |
