Under general supervision, the Hourly Interpreter provides ASL interpreting services to facilitate communication most often in a classroom or related instructional settings and activities for persons who are deaf or hard-of-hearing. Assignments may involve technical or specialized subject matter and vocabulary. Individual assignments may vary based on the specific skills of the interpreter and the needs of the students or other consumers. More difficult tasks may involve interpreting technical or specialized subject matter and vocabulary, which require using specialized signs, accommodating consumer request for varied language preferences, and interpreting fast spoken material. Specific complexity and skill factors include type of interpreting or communication system needed, difficulty or unique nature of the subject matter and vocabulary, speed of interpreting required, and number of deaf or hard-of-hearing consumers served simultaneously.
Clinical Lab Scientist I (Hourly/Intermittent) Chico
Working under the supervision of a physician laboratory director or higher-level Clinical Laboratory Scientist, the Clinical Laboratory Scientist I (CLS I) is a licensed professional responsible for performing a wide variety of moderate to highly complex clinical laboratory tests and examinations. The CLS I provides medical staff with essential laboratory data for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illness and disease within the university setting. Assignments typically include diagnostic testing ordered by licensed practitioners (e.g., urinalysis, pregnancy tests, blood tests, antibiotic sensitivity tests), specimen collection and preparation, interpretation of test outcomes, calibration and maintenance of equipment, and quality assurance in compliance with state and federal regulations, including the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).
Director of Development, Planned Giving (Administrator II) Chico
The Director of Development, Planned Giving is the University’s lead strategist and frontline fundraiser for planned and deferred gifts. This role builds, grows, and sustains a comprehensive program that advances long-term philanthropic priorities. As a senior member of the Development team, the Director focuses on securing estate commitments and other deferred gifts, generating at least $2 million annually in documented commitments. The position emphasizes donor education, legacy society stewardship, strategic marketing, and close collaboration with colleagues to integrate planned giving into the University’s overall fundraising strategy. Although titled Director of Development, this role does not manage a traditional major gift portfolio. Assistant Manager of Building Trades (Administrator I) Chico
Under the general supervision of the Director of Facilities Operations (DFO), the Assistant Manager of Building Trades is a member of the FMS leadership team and shares responsibility for day-to-day departmental operations. This role oversees the daily execution of building trades maintenance services, fleet operations, and central warehouse inventory control. The incumbent provides direct supervision to assigned trades and support staff, ensuring the efficient delivery of preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, fleet compliance, materials management, and in-house construction services in alignment with departmental standards. Residence Conduct Coordinator (Student Services Professional III) Chico
The Residence Conduct Coordinator (RCC) supports the daily administration of the student conduct process and ensures accountability to University Housing policies. RCCs meet with students who have violated policies outlined in the University Housing Policy Guide and adjudicate conduct cases as their primary responsibility. Although much of the work is performed independently, the RCC is a key member of the Residence Life team, which includes the Associate Director for Residence Life, three Residence Conduct Coordinators, three Residence Life Coordinators, the Senior Coordinator for Leadership and Development, the Senior Coordinator for Conduct and Compliance, and the Hub Program Coordinator. CSU, Chico houses approximately 2,200 students on campus. In addition to case adjudication, RCCs provide conduct-related programming, customer service, resource referrals, and crisis response. The role requires handling complex and sensitive situations with sound professional judgment and effective counseling skills to support college students. RCCs also co-supervise 14–20 Resident Advisors and contribute to community development. This is a live-in position that emphasizes student development and community management. Residence Life staff participate in a rotating on-call schedule, providing 24-hour coverage as needed.
